The Scanning Pens story
Scanning Pens started with a friendship. Toby Sutton OBE and Jack Churchill OBE both shared a passion for technology. This passion would grow over the years of knowing each other until turning into the foundation of Scanning Pens.
One piece of tech caught their eye early on, something close to their heart – assistive tech for literacy support. Open about his dyslexia journey, Jack understands the challenges and needs of the neurodivergent community. It was clear that giving people access to life-changing reading support was the future for Toby and Jack.
So, the C-Pen series of reading pens became part of the Scanning Pens family. Combining this award-winning dyslexia support with a whole host of resources, it continues to change the lives of people around the world, handing them access to their right to read.

Meet Toby and Jack
Now meet the friends behind Scanning Pens. Toby and Jack have worked together for over 20 years, helping change the lives of neurodivergent people worldwide. They’ve had a fantastic career so far, which has given them the honour of receiving the Order of the British Empire award (OBE) for ‘services to international trade, and to the dyslexia, and special educational needs and disabilities community.’ Read more about the duo below.
