Case Study: Seven Oaks School Division (Winnipeg, MB)

Seven Oaks School Division partnered with Scanning Pens Canada to support students with low literacy, English Language Learners (ELL), and French Immersion needs through a free 60-day pilot.
Recognizing the potential of assistive technology, SOSD reached out to the Scanning Pens team to explore how we could support their students. They selected a variety of devices to match the division’s different needs.

During the 60-day pilot, we provided hands-on support. Both sales and education staff visited SOSD schools, and their collaboration helped teachers feel confident using the devices with students.

Why it worked

  • No upfront cost or risk
  • Tailored mix of scanning pens
  • Hands-on educator training and support

Results:

  • 40 x C-Pen Reader 3 purchased after the pilot
  • Increased student independence and confidence
  • Strong adoption across English, ELL, and French Immersion classrooms
